In the Centre of our Community
We are a dedicated group of volunteers who work to protect First Lake so that future generations will be able to enjoy a clean, freshwater lake with a safe, healthy shoreline. Friends of First Lake holds monthly meetings, participates in a yearly clean-up, and supports development and improvement of public spaces and trails around the lake.
Preserve and Protect
The “FOFL” is a volunteer, non-profit, community based environmental organization whose main goal is to preserve and protect the integrity, water quality, and shoreline of First Lake, a large fresh water lake located in the community of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.
Come travel our 3.3 km active transportation trail, by foot, snowshoe or ski. Our Trail head locations are at First Lake Drive and Glendale Drive. Our trail pathways consists of crusher dust, sidewalks and boardwalks.
Fish and Swim
Cast your line in and you just may hook a Speckled Trout or Bass. You can also swim at the Kinsmen Beach where lifeguards are on duty in the summer months. Picnic areas are also available and you can take some time to play at the new Kinsmen Splash Pad!
