A community meeting was held to work towards resolving this ongoing issue. The meeting included the results of an archeological impact study and the path forward.
At this time the landowners of the Cemetary (Cobequid Road United Baptist Church) have decided on an interim basis to limit trail access to walking not vehicular traffic as they deliberate a final decision.
The gated entrance along First Lake Drive will not be accessible as a public boat launch or motorized vehicles of any kind with the exception of emergency vehicles.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the local MLA and Councillor, we will share further updates as soon as we know more. Thank you.
Bounded by First Lake Drive, Glendale Drive, Cobequid Road, and Metropolitan Avenue, the trails around First Lake make up a portion of Sackville Lakes Provincial Park.
The land surrounding the lake is home to the Sackville Sports Stadium, the Kinsman Park, the Sackville Arena, the Bingo Centre, Taiso Gymnastics, the Sack-A-Wa Canoe Club and the Eddie Leblanc Baseball Field.
